LEGO Friends 2014 Advent Calendar Day 1: Mia

Wow! I can’t believe it’s been almost a year since I last updated this site. Ugh. Clearly I’m not great at this but you know what? I’m not going to dwell on it and just try and look ahead to the future. It’s time to get back into it and kick things back into high gear. LEGO’s got some AWESOME things up the pipeline coming out next year and it’s time to share my enthusiasm for all things Friends. So, with that, let’s get back into the groove slowly but surely with an annual tradition of reviewing the Advent Calendar.

Friends-2014-Advent-Day-1First up on day 1 we get Mia! She’s looking well dressed in her light purple cardigan, scarf, and dark pants. They’re probably dark jeans to keep things comfortable and casual. She’s one of the two exclusive minidolls in this set. She doesn’t come with any accessories, but I suppose that’s what the next few days will provide us and her with.

Onward and upward!

Friends Disney Princess Sets Now Available

41055 Cinderella's Romantic Castle

Finally. I was browsing LEGO Shop@Home’s website on and off yesterday and today waiting to see if the Disney Princess line would ever show up, but the Themes menu never changed, and neither did the first few pages of the “What’s New” page. So on a hunch I just searched for each individual set number and found them. They are AVAILABLE for immediate purchase and delivery. This is the link to the theme page but that page seems to be dead for now. Instead, you’ll have to click through each link below to browse the sets. I’ve also included links to Amazon if you prefer to shop from there instead.

January 2014 Wave Now Available

41057_alt1If you have holiday money burning a hole in your wallet and are looking for some new Friends sets to buy, then LEGO Shop@Home is the place to be. They have put all of the new January 2014 wave of Friends for sale for immediate purchase and delivery. In addition to the few sets we’ve revealed here before, there are a two new ones that we are just now seeing: 41056 Heartlake News Van and 41057 Heartlake Horse Show.

Friends Minidoll Display Cases

Friends Display Case 1

I saw these sitting on the shelf at a Toys’R’Us store the other day. They are the exact same size and dimension as the other half-sized LEGO minifigure display cases but just in prettier colors: purple, light blue, and a plum red. They don’t come with a figure, just a sticker of Stephanie to represent what it would look like with a minidoll inside. Each case holds 8 figures and according to the sticker on the shelf will run you $17.49. I haven’t been able to find them anywhere else in a store or online either. If you do happen to find them at a Toys’R’Us, they are running a promotion right now where if you buy one case, you get a second one at 40% off. Now’s the time to stock up! These would make a great gift for the Friends fanatic that has every set. Give them a display case or two to organize their minidolls!

Disney Princesses Sets Spotted and Purchased From LEGO Brand Retail Store

Disney PrincessesA friend of mine just sent me the above pic and told me that he bought the above sets from a LEGO store. So if you’ve got one of those in your nighborhood, head on over and see if you can score some for yourself. I’m pretty sure if you gifted one of these for Christmas you’d be the best Mom/Dad/Aunt/Uncle/Grandparent ever!

Looks like my plans for the weekend have been set!

Target Has BOGOHO on LEGO Friends and LEGO City Through 12/14

Maybe you’re like me and the thought of stepping inside another Toys’R’Us store gives you the heebee jeebees. After what I went through to secure that Beach House set, I’ve pretty much sworn off stepping inside another retail location until January. But hey, you’re in luck: this week through Saturday, Target stores and Target.com are having a Buy One Get One Half Off sale on select toy brands. It says so in their weekly ad. Included in that sale are LEGO Friends and LEGO City so you can take care of that LEGO fanboy and fangirl in your life at the same time. There is a slight restriction that the BOGOHO discount only applies on toys of the same brand, so you can’t mix the Nerf with the LEGO set and get one of them half off. Both items have to be Nerf, or both LEGO, or whatever else is included on that sale.

Unfortunately, all LEGO Friends are “currently unavailable online”. BUT you can now purchase the item online and do a store pickup. That feature is currently in beta so I can’t say how reliable the system is yet. I’m tempted to try it out though.

41037 Stephanie’s Beach House Found!

41037 Stephanie's Beach House

If you’re still doing some Christmas shopping and are having a hard time finding a good gift for that LEGO Friends maniac in your life, keep your eyes peeled for some of the 2014 sets. They sometimes trickle out onto store shelves early depending on when they get their shipments. 41037 Stephanie’s Beach House is new for 2014 and was found at a Toys’R’Us. We went ahead and purchased it and will be doing a review of the set real soon.

If you do venture out to a Toys’R’Us store in hopes of finding some new sets, please be aware of the “TRU tax”. Toys’R’Us stores typically add an additional markup on top of MSRP, and this markup increases the closer it gets to Christmas.

We’ve reported before on new Friends sets for January 2014 so take a look at the images in that article to know what to look out for.

More Friends 2014 Set Images

Some more January 2014 sets have been revealed, and if you’re a fan of horses then you’re in for a treat. One of the sets revealed is 41039 Sunshine Ranch and it sounds just like what the title says. It’s the largest set for the January line, weighing in at 721 pieces, and it features 2 horses, a foal, some rabbits and other animals. The building seems a little weird. It’s neither a barn, a stable, nor a farmhouse, but looks like a little of each. It’s only a facade, so don’t expect any sort of structure. That’s too bad, because a full-sized barn that opens up down the middle would have been awesome. I suppose that something you can build on your own and knowing the LEGO community, it will be done.

The set is augmented by a second “Sunshine” set, 41026 Sunshine Harvest. It has me curious to know if there will be other Sunshine-themed sets to add to the ranch.

LEGO Disney Princesses

The Brothers Brick posted photos of LEGO’s brand new Disney Princesses line. Based on the Friends scale and minidolls, there are a total of six sets to collect and based on piece counts, expect them to be priced from about $15 for 41051 Merida’s Highland Games on up to about $70-$99 for 41055 Cinderalla’s Romantic Castle.
Expect these sets to have a street date of January 2014, which means with some luck you’ll be able to find them on store shelves right around Christmas time. We’ll keep you posted with any further developments, but for now, enjoy the pictures.
