LEGO Friends Toy Fair 2013: 41005 Heartlake High

LEGO is really putting an effort into making Heartlake City a full environment. I was hoping that a school set would be made sooner rather than later and here it is. The other notable thing worth mentioning about Heartlake High is that it is one of two sets that have boy mini-dolls! You get Matthew who is not only a boy, but seem to be African American as well. It’s only a matter of time before an Asian shows up. Like the high school set, I hope that happens sooner rather than later.

LEGO Friends Wins Toy of the Year

I just got this press release in my email, but this is great news for LEGO Friends fans! Tonight, February 9th 2013, at the annual “Oscars” of the toy industry, executives and guests gathered for the Toy of the Year awards and Toy Industry Hall of Fame ceremony held at the Plaza Hotel kicking off the annual American International Toy Fair. LEGO walked away with an armload of awards, but the one award they received was the top honor of being named Toy of the Year for LEGO Friends. LEGO Friends also won Activity Toy of the Year and Girl Toy of the Year.

This is incredible news and I for one am glad that the industry recognizes what we as fans of the line already knew: that the Friends line offers a great building, learning, and play experience.

We’re here in New York to cover the LEGO Collector Event and will post as many pictures as I can take on the upcoming Friends sets for 2013 so come back tomorrow!
